Endometriosis Case Study[1]

Situation/Background

Samantha Lee, a 28-year-old nulliparous woman, presents to her primary care provider with complaints of severe pelvic pain that worsens during menstruation, pain during intercourse, and fatigue. She reports a history of irregular and heavy menstrual periods since menarche. Samantha has been trying to conceive for the past year without success. A pelvic exam reveals tenderness in the lower abdomen and nodularity along the uterosacral ligaments. An ultrasound shows the presence of ovarian cysts consistent with endometriomas. Samantha is diagnosed with endometriosis.
